Senior School Tour 2013
Our senior school tour this year was an activity based tour. Third - Sixth class went to the Crystal Maze which is situated just between Navan, Co. Meath and Kingscourt, Co. Cavan. Luckily a dry day was forecast as we set off on the bus and when we arrived all our instructors were there waiting to welcome us.
There were two parts to our day of activity. Firstly we went to the Crystal Maze site. The Crystal Maze was comprised of a number of physical, mental and skill challenges. We were split into teams and each team had to decide on a team name. Each team had to then journey around the maze attempting to conquer all the challenges to win crystals. We had a number of snack breaks to feed our minds for the mental challenges that lay ahead!
When finished at the maze we made the short trip to Dún a Rí Forest Park. Here we did an orienteering course. Teams used a map to navigate around the park. We had to locate features, solve questions and if successful we could win more crystals. The team with the most crystals would win a beautiful crystal
trophy.
When we gathered back at the car park each team instructor carefully counted each team's crystals. The winners were declared.............The Éire Óg Mangos were victorious!
It was a brilliant school tour but we were all very tired after!

Senior Tour 2013
Infants -Second Class Go on Tour
On Friday the 14th of June Junior Infants- 2nd class went on their school tour. We went to Killinkere Farm in Virginia Co. Cavan. Ms Ryan, Ms Groarke and Laura came on the tour with us. It took
us nearly an hour to get to the farm but we didn’t mind because our coach was very comfortable! We were very excited to be going on a big coach together. We talked, laughed and sang songs on the bus.
We saw lots of animals at the farm. We cuddled some cute, fluffy rabbits. We fed some energetic goats. We also held some unusual creatures such as chinchillas. Everyone was able to pet some of the small animals. We loved the fluffy rabbits and the cheeky diego. Farmer John took each of us for a pony ride. The pony trotted around the field.
We went on a lovely walk around the fields. We saw lots of different trees, plants and flowers. When we went over the little footbridge we saw lots of tadpoles. We didn’t see the troll that hides under the bridge! There are also beehives on the farm. Our leader showed us a beehive which contains 30,000 bees! Later
we got a chance to taste some of the fresh honey. It was very sweet! The beekeeper has to wear special protective clothes and headgear. The beekeeper clips the queens’ wings so she can’t fly away.
We really enjoyed playing on the timber frames. We pretended we were on board the Titanic and escaped the sinking vessel by sliding down the steep slide.
Farmer John took us on a tractor ride. He had a red trailer with high sides. Inside the trailer he had bales of hay for us to sit on. We sang songs and chanted during our bumpy ride. It started to rain but we didn’t mind because we were having so much fun!
When it was time to go home we thanked the staff at Killinkere Farm and gave them a big bualadh bos! We were very tired on the bus journey home. We had a great day at the farm!
