What is the Active Schools' Programme?
In Scoil Mhuire our School Council have formed a sub-committee to help the school work towards achieving the award of being an
Active School.
An active school is one where physical activity is valued, promoted and enjoyed by all.
The aim of the Active Schools’ Programme is to enable a school to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community.

Active School Committee- Slogan Competition
As part of its work the School Council's sub committee for Active Schools held a 'Slogan Competition' where each classroom was set the challenge of composing an 'Active School Slogan' for Scoil Mhuire, Magherarney. The slogans were collected and judged by our on-site playschool committee and they selected the slogan composed by Seomra Rang 1 & 2. The slogan is catchy and sums up our thinking about being an Active School!
